Scotland - Queen's 90th birthday – Board extensions

We are now able to update and summarise the current Licensing Board’s view across Scotland on extensions (granted or not) for the celebration weekend of 10 and 11 June – with grateful thanks to Adrian Howlett at Greene King/ Belhaven Pubs who coordinated the various responses.

In summary below is what each Board has decided. As you will be aware the majority of Scottish premises already trade to 1am on Friday and Saturday nights – but if premises do not trade until 1.00am already, the below may assist as to what may be required:

Aberdeenshire Central

East Dunbartonshire

Blanket extension - extra hour on Saturday 11th June 2016 but it requires you to make an application for extended hours no later than Monday 23 May

East Lothian

Blanket extension - This will apply from Friday 10th June to Saturday 11th June inclusive and will allow an extension of the terminal hour for the sale of alcohol during that period until 1am.

East Renfrewshire

Blanket extension - This will apply from Friday 10th June to Saturday 11th June inclusive and will allow an extension of the terminal hour for the sale of alcohol during that period until 1am.

Edinburgh

Status Quo - apply for Extended Hours if not already open to 1am

Falkirk

Blanket extension - This will apply from Friday 10th June to Saturday 11th June inclusive and allows premises an additional hour of right for the weekend of the 90th Birthday.

Fife

Status Quo - apply for Extended Hours if not already open to 1am

Glasgow

Blanket extension -  An additional one licensed hour has been granted to all licensed premises with an on-sales facility to take effect at the end of the core licensed hours set out in the premises licence on both Friday 10 June and Saturday 11 June 2016. NOTE EXCLUSIONS* and USE OF TOUGHENED/ SAFETY GLASS

*EXCLUSIONS

Aberdeen City -

The Board decided to grant an extension for premises that operate 14 hours or less. All "On consumption" premises with the exception of casinos, who adhere to the maximum of 14 hours continuous trading in any 24 hour period, as per the Licensing Board's Statement of Licensing Policy, paragraph 20.6, may extend the licensed hours by 1 hour beyond the terminal hour on Friday 10th and Saturday 11th of June 2016. Premises licence holders who meet the terms of the policy need not make an extended hours application for these dates. There is no obligation placed on licence holders to take advantage of this extension should they not wish to do so.
